Zimbabwe National Youth Games

The Sport and Recreation Commission, then known as the Sports Council, sent some of its Sports Officers on a Sports Tour to Germany. The Sports Officers who participated in the Tour of Germany included Mr. J. J. Nyashanu (tasked to Review and initiate the inception of the Youth Games) made an assessment of a similar model for the Youth Games and determined the feasibility and possible impact that such Games could have in the Zimbabwean context. The idea was halted for some time, until the birth of the Sports and Recreation Commission through the enactment of the Sport and Recreation Commission Act of 1991 and revised in 1996 : Chapter 25:15.
